It is normally one of Britain’s rainiest cities, but when Jennifer James and Lee Boardman woke up to perfect blue skies and glorious sunshine on the morning of their
wedding at Manchester’s Town Hall it was to set the mood for the entire day.
The couple chose the venue because the city and the building hold special memories for them both. They met on the set of Coronation Street in Manchester last year then both attended the show’s gala 40th anniversary dinner at the Town Hall. Lee was born and grew up in the city and Jennifer has lived in nearby Wigan all her life. Jokes Manchester United supporter Lee: “The only other option was Old Trafford but can you imagine Jenny’s reaction if I’d suggested getting married at a football ground? She would have killed me!”
The couple invited more than 30 friends from the cast to witness their special day, as well as Coronation Street producer Jane Macnaught and various backroom staff. Jennifer, who plays sunny barmaid Geena Gregory, explained: “They are like a family to us both. They were there when we met and have been a huge part of our
lives together and we really wanted them all there to witness our big day.”
